Loom is a really useful tool for recording quick videos.

To access our Loom videos, you will need to login using the XEN Service account in your 1Password vault.

We have folders setup for a range of areas including:

• XEN processes
• Client processes
• General tips and tricks

In order to use Loom, you will need to download Loom as a Chrome extension here. When you do so, Loom will display at the top of your Google Chrome window, to the right of the search bar.

Setting up before recording

1. To record a video, click the Loom icon on your Chrome extension bar.

Here’s what you’ll see when you click the Loom extension icon.

• Recording Area: The box on the right lets you choose what to record:
  • Full Screen: Records everything on your monitor.
  • Window: Records a specific window.
  • Current Tab: Records only the active browser tab.
• Camera & Microphone: You can also turn your camera on/off and select the microphone you want to use. (For sharing processes, we usually turn our camera off)
• Start Recording button: Click on the orange "Start Recording button" when you're ready.

2. Remove your avatar and adjust your recording controls

For a clean recording, remove your avatar to avoid covering your content. The XEN logo can also be hidden by clicking the three dots(more button) next to it and select “x”. You can also drag the recording controls (including the logo area) in a different spot to avoid blocking anything important.

Above are the buttons that you can control or manage while recording with Loom.

• Turn on Camera: Want to add yourself to the recording? Click this button!
• Stop Recording: When you're finished, click this button to finalise your video.
