Main internet connection
- Minimum Internet Speed Requirement
- Each team member should have a primary internet connection with a minimum speed of 300Mbps for optimal remote work performance.
- Check Current Internet Speed
- Test the current internet speed using a reliable online speed test tool (e.g., speedtest.net). If the speed is below 300Mbps, consider upgrading your plan with your internet service provider (ISP).
- Wired Connection Preferred
- Whenever possible, connect your computer directly to the router using an Ethernet cable. Wired connections are generally more stable and faster than Wi-Fi connections.
Backup Internet Connection
In addition to the primary internet connection, set up a backup connection to ensure uninterrupted work in case of an outage.
This backup connection could be from a different ISP, a mobile hotspot, or a secondary Wi-Fi network. Just ensure it has a decent speed.
- Good examples of a backup internet
- Alternative Wired Internet such as Converge or other providers
- Stable 5G mobile hotspot
- Starlink
- Slow or unreliable backup options to avoid
- Wireless, prepaid modems by local companies (Globe, Smart in the Philippines)
- LTE/3G mobile hotspot
